The Bengals have officially announced Notre Dame’s Al Golden as their new defensive coordinator.

Golden previously served as the Bengals’ linebacker coach back in 2020-2021 before taking the defensive coordinator job at Notre Dame.
Under Golden, Notre Dame’s defense flourished, ranking 2nd in the nation in points allowed, 9th in total yards allowed and 5th in interceptions.
Going back to his time in Cincinnati, Golden was instrumental in the team’s defensive output on their way to a Super Bowl run as well as developing linebackers Logan Wilson and Germaine Pratt.
Golden takes over a defense that has struggled over the past two seasons, but does have good pieces to build around. Here’s hoping he can get them back to their Super Bowl form.
