I have been away from wrestling for years. I grew up as a kid loving every second of it. I would watch every single match of every single event. I would buy and play every single video game imaginable. I had all of the action figures, rings, belts, etc. I was all in.

As I got older I fell out of love with wrestling for no reason in particular. I had friends who still enjoyed it, but I just never invested any of my time into it.

If you listen to the podcast or if you know Ian, you know that man loves him some wrestling. I always enjoy talking wrestling with him, despite the fact that I haven’t followed along with all of the latest storylines.

When WWE announced that RAW was making the switch over to Netflix I decided that I would give it a try. It seemed like a big moment in the company’s illustrious history. Although I’m not very familiar with the latest storylines, I caught on quick and the nostalgia of wrestling started to come back to me and I really enjoyed my time watching it. I’ve proceeded to watch all of the RAW airings on Netflix since and these are a few of my dumb guy who just started watching again and really knows nothing thoughts:

Gunther SUCKS so damn bad. My god what a boring, dumbass storyline. Ian tells me that this guy is a fantastic wrestler and I’m sure that’s the case because he knows much more than me about wrestling. All I know is what I’ve seen over these past few episodes of RAW and what I’ve seen sucks beyond belief. What a boring character. I’m sure I’ll be proven wrong over time, but right now I have to fight falling asleep when this dumbass comes on the screen.

Jey Uso on the other hand absolutely rules. Every time this guy comes on the screen it’s electric. His intro is fantastic. The crowd is always hyped when he shows up and the yeet is cool as hell. Ian tells me every single time that his dad is the great Rikishi, which makes sense because Rikishi also kicked ass.

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are GREAT on the call. Are they as good as Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler? Absolutely not, but who is? Those two together were incredible. Pat McAfee is made to announce wrestling though and Michael Cole is a company guy through and through. I think they do a fantastic job.

Most of the women’s matches I’ve seen are lightyears better than where they were when I was younger and watching wrestling. Most of them are really good wrestlers and their matches are super fun and entertaining. Rhea Ripley’s storyline is super fun and it always makes me laugh to watch Ian’s brain wipe its hard drive when she comes on the screen.

Penta is cool as hell. He’s obviously fun to watch in the ring despite a slow start to his WWE debut match, but besides that he just looks badass. Thinking back to all of the great luchador wrestlers growing up, Penta’s look is up there with the coolest of them in my opinion. Shoutout to La Parka by the way. One of the low key great Luchador looks in my opinion.

I’m a BIG fan of the Cody Rhodes and CM Punk storyline. I don’t know why either. Maybe it’s just because I think Cody Rhodes rules, but regardless, that storyline is tons of fun and I’m here for it.

I missed the bulk of the Roman Reigns era, but I get it now. He rules. What a great character and wrestler. I’m fully invested in his storyline and I love it. Paul Heyman is the shit as well. I could watch 2 hours of that storyline if I’m being honest.

Does this era beat the Attitude Era? I don’t think so, but it’s still really fun and enjoyable. I don’t think you can ever top the nostalgia of when you were younger, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. I’ve been enjoying my time with RAW. I haven’t ventured to any of the other programs like Smack Down and I’m not sure when I will, but I’m not opposed to it.

If you don’t watch wrestling anymore, but you did when you were younger, give it a try. The product is fun and entertaining. The Netflix broadcast has also been very good. In my opinion there are worse ways to spend a Monday night.
